Styx, Head East coming to Virginia

CHAMPAIGN — Tickets go on sale Valentine's Day as classic rock group Styx is joined by Head East at the Virginia Theatre April 2.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The $49-$99 reserved seating tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 at the box office, 203 W. Park Ave., C. You can also get them by phone at 356-9063 or online at http://www.thevirginia.org

Formed in a suburban Chicago basement in the early 1970s, Styx first came to Midwest regional attention with the hit single "Lady."

Starting when Tommy Shaw joined the band in 1975, Styx reeled off four consecutive multi-platinum selling albums: "Crystal Ball," "The Grand Illusion," "Pieces Of Eight" and "Cornerstone."

Head East was formed in the early 1970s.

Led by founding member/singer/songwriter Roger Boyd, the breakthrough album was "Flat As A Pancake" — with a printing featuring what was then called the Assembly Hall on the cover — and featured "Never Been Any Reason."
