Davis to conduct UI Black Chorus at benefit concert

CHAMPAIGN — The University of Illinois Black Chorus conducted by Ollie Watts Davis will perform at the 17th annual SAFE House Winter Benefit Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church, 210 W. Church St.

Also performing: the First United Methodist Chancel Ringers conducted by Jim Till; the Champaign-Urbana Community Choir led by Joe Grant and Willie T. Summerville; and organist Ray Wiggs.

A freewill offering will be taken at the concert. Additional information about the programs can be accessed online or by contacting Canaan Baptist Church at 367-2158.

The church opened the 12-month faith-based Substance Abuse Free Environment residential program with the Men's SAFE House in 1994 and the Women's SAFE House in 2012. All funding for the programs comes from individual, corporate or faith-based organizations.
