Illinois bands corner, Feb. 20-27, 2014

The University of Illinois bands are a beloved institution in Champaign-Urbana. Here is what they are doing this week:

TODAY

7 p.m.: Pre-concert lecture, "American Music and the Significance of the University of Illinois Band Program," Foellinger Great Hall, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts

7:30 p.m.: Illinois Wind Symphony (conducted by Professor Linda Moorhouse and graduate associate conductor J. Ashley Jarrell) presents "American Icons" as the recital for inaugural doctoral in wind conducting candidate Jarrell, Foellinger Great Hall, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (tickets $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $4 for students)

WEDNESDAY

7:30 p.m.: Illinois Wind Orchestra (conducted by Professor Barry Houser and graduate associate conductor Brad Wallace) along with Tri-Valley High School orchestra (conducted by Dan Marcotte), Foellinger Great Hall, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (tickets $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $4 for students)

8 p.m.: Basketball Band at Illini men's game against Nebraska, State Farm Center.
