Right on cue: High school production

I was impressed last week while watching a rehearsal of "Shrek The Musical" at Champaign Central High School. The costumes are fabulous, and I had to ask, "Who is that?" when I saw Isiah Brighton, on his knees as Lord Farquaad, singing. So handsome and expressive! Drama director LaDonna Wilson is on it. Last show is 2:30 p.m. today.

Head on over to the Twist and Shout

Celebrate Mardi Gras early: The Beat Kitchen Brass Band will perform New Orleans funk in two sets, from 10 to 11:15 p.m. Saturday and 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. next Sunday at Cowboy Monkey in downtown Champaign. My friends love dancing to this band, which will feature Brad Decker on bass, Michael McLouglin on guitar and other players.

Hatch idea is one worth revisiting

I love The I.D.E.A. Store's Hatch creative-reuse art festival. I love seeing artists' ingenuity in upcycling materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. Hatch kicks off Friday evening with the opening reception of an art exhibition at Indi Go Artist Co-op in Champaign. For more information, check out my article..
