Danville friends relate highlights of Oscar trip

Mimi Myers and Suzy Smalley are back in Danville after a weekend of star-gazing on the Oscars red carpet.

While the People magazine movie fan contest Myers won didn't come with front-row seats — the best friends sat high up in the stands, under a golden arch — they still got a good view of the rich and famous as they stopped to wave to the crowd or chat with ABC's Robin Roberts.

We asked them to share their red carpet review:

— Most memorable moment: "Brad Pitt made eye contact with me and waved," Myers said. "(Seeing) Liza Minnelli and Meryl Streep and the ... whole thing."

— Best dressed: Best actor winner Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Smalley said. "Pretty stunning!" Myers went with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: "They were like old Hollywood glamour."

— The after-party: "We had our own," Myers said. "We stopped at a tequila bar and had a couple of cocktails in our hotel room."

— Inside their swag bag: Sunglasses, an iPhone case, earbuds, T-shirt, beauty products, snacks and of course, the latest edition of People magazine.

— Other highlights: Seeing movie stars' hand- and footprints in cement in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater and their stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and getting star treatment at the makeover, manicure and massage stations that were set up for contest winners.
