Auditions set for Middleton work

URBANA — The Early Modern Workshop of the University of Illinois Department of English will have auditions for Thomas Middleton's "The Revenger's Tragedy" from 6 to 10 tonight in Room 150, English Building, 608 S. Wright St.

The company gave this synopsis:

"When the world appears to shatter, it is easy to become encompassed by sorrow, but how far does that anguish move a person? It is possible for it to grip your very being, and drive you down a twisted path of lies, deception and death to obtain justice?

"Join an assassin fueled by obsession, a hedonistic plotter, a maiden of unparalleled celibacy, and a host of unforgettable characters as they scheme incestuous trysts and remorseless homicides through a tale that takes twists and turns through wit, slapstick, and tragedy in equal amounts."

No preparations are necessary to audition, according to director Megan Scharlau. The play will be presented April 25-26.
