'The Nerd' will be presented in Sidney

SIDNEY — The Creative Dramatics Workshop will present "The Nerd" by Larry Shue this and next weekend, at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays.

"The Nerd" is a comedy about an old army buddy of Willum's who shows up to help his architect business but becomes the classic "nerd" of the play.

The cast includes Jake Smith of Homer, Joe Reichlin of Urbana, Emily Pawlicki of Sidney, Lena Leonberger of Sidney, Peter Cowley of Champaign as Rick Steadman the Nerd), Bethany Woods of Tolono and Aren Lundquist of Homer.

Robert Picklesimer, founding director of the workshop, said the play will be one of the theater's last before it has a newly renovated building.

"As any theater company will tell you, finding a theater space is the most major hurdle they face, and we have had the luxury of our home space for 16 years, and literally hundreds of kids have performed here," he said in a release.

Tickets are $5 each. Call 688-2395 for reservations or other information. The theater is at 200 E. Byron St., Sidney.
