Works from local artist on display

URBANA — Artwork by Champaign resident Sylvia Arnstein is on display through June 25 at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center, 601 S. Lincoln Ave., U.

Titled "Sojourn," the exhibition features work Arnstein did earlier in her career, including paintings based on drawings she completed in the 1980s and oil paintings from a decade later. The show also includes still lifes on paper and recent bird paintings.

Arnstein has a bachelor's of fine arts degree from the University of Illinois; she also studied at the Sir John Cass College of Art in London and received a master's of fine arts degree in printmaking from the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Before moving to Champaign in 2008, she lived in New York, California, Seattle, Scotland and Chicago, where she produced murals and commissions for The Gettys Group, a design specialist in the hospitality industry. She has her own interior design business that has drawn residential and commercial clients from throughout the United States.

Arnstein is vice president of the local chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters. For more information about her, visit sylviaarnstein.com.
