Two clay classes planned in Danville

DANVILLE — The Danville Art League will offer two new "bring-your-lunch series" clay classes this and next month at the Danville Art League, 320 Franklin St., Danville.

Students in the first class will make a sushi plate with chopstick holder. The class will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday in the league's pottery studio.

Robi Rew will be the instructor; the $30 class fee includes a sushi plate, holder and chopsticks, glaze, tools, the firing fee and instruction. Students may purchase additional items to complete more sets.

The second class is a knitting bowl using the coiled clay technique; it will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 19 and May 3 in the league's pottery studio.

Students will design a unique bowl that will hold their yarn. Students will build their coil pot the first Saturday and glaze their pots the next Saturday. Rew will be the instructor; the $55 class fee covers high-fire brown stoneware clay, glaze, the firing fee and instruction.
