Xylophone performance will rattle your bones

Xylophone performance will rattle your bones

You've got to love a band that bills itself as "Urbana-Champaign's worst xylophone-driven ragtime jug band."

Bones Jugs N Harmony plays at 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, 500 S. Goodwin Ave., U.

Krannert calls the band "rowdy, silly and ecstatic."

Bones Jugs N Harmony covered the Beastie Boys at January's Great Cover Up at the High Dive, and did an outstanding job of it.

"Bones Jugs N Harmony will make it impossible to keep yourself from grinning and dancing like you've never had a care in the world," Krannert enthuses.

"Bouncy rhythms from noise makers like jugs, bike horns, kazoos and steel pans boost this group's sound from stupendous to supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. With a song list that includes old-time rags, bluegrass standards, calypso tunes, hip-hop classics and originals, this band is determined to lay down an irresistible groove and crank the party vibe to 11."
