45th Jazz Fest scheduled at Central

CHAMPAIGN — The 45th annual Central Jazz Fest will take place Friday and Saturday at Champaign Central High School's Combes Gym.

The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. each day. Local middle and high school big bands will perform, and the Jazz Cafe will sell dinner, dessert and snacks.

In recognition of its 45th year, the Jazz Fest will feature a Central High alumni band during the Saturday night performances. The band members participated in the school's jazz program.

The festival's special guest this year will be retired Central band director Dick Dunscombe, who will direct the alumni band.

Admission at the door is $5 per person, with a family maximum of $20.

— 5:30 to 6 p.m., Edison Middle School Jazz Band.

— 6 to 6:30 p.m., Franklin Middle School Jazz Band.

— 6:30 to 7 p.m., Centennial Jazz Band 2.

— 7 to 7:30 p.m., Edison Middle School Jazz Band 2.

— 7:30 to 8 p.m., Franklin Middle School Jazz Band 1.

— 8 to 8:30 p.m., Central High School Lab Band.

— 8:30 to 9 p.m., Edison Middle School Jazz Band 1.

— 9 to 9:30 p.m., Central High School Stage Band.

— 9:30 to 10 p.m., Centennial High School Jazz Band 1.

— 10 to 11 p.m., Central High School Jazz Ensemble.

Saturday:

— 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., Central High School Lab Band.

— 6:15 to 6:45 p.m., Jefferson Middle School Jazz Band.

— 6:45 to 7:30 p.m., Central High School Stage Band.

— 7:30 to 8:15 p.m., Parkland In Your Ear Big Band.

— 8:15 to 8:45 p.m., Urbana High School Jazz Band.

— 8:45 to 9:45 p.m., Central Alumni Band.

— 9:45 to 10:45 p.m., Central High School Jazz Ensemble.
