One free event I look forward to this week is the Urbana Park District's first Roots Walk in Crystal Lake Park. From 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, local acoustic groups will be stationed at various places along the pathways, performing roots music. This is modeled after Jazz Walk in September at Meadowbrook Park.

It's always interesting to see what young art students are up to. So I definitely will check out the Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition at Krannert Art Museum, and a student spinoff show at nearby Flagg Hall. The BFA show at the museum will remain on view through May 18. The museum's open 2-5 today.

The Duke of Uke and His Novelty Orchestra, a really fun band, will be back in town, performing at 7 tonight at The Iron Post, Urbana. Another band that my friends really dig is Surreal Deal, mainly because its members are among the best musicians in town. They play covers, adroitly. 8:30 tonight, Rose Bowl Tavern, Urbana.
