Friday Night Live returns to downtown Champaign
Friday Night Live, a street-side performance series that's free and open to the public, will kick off on Friday in downtown Champaign.
Running from 6 to 8 p.m. every Friday through Aug. 22 on downtown streets, Friday Night Live presents an eclectic mix of music and street performances, including bluegrass, jazz, folk and blues, along with a cappella singing, dancing, and live painting.
Family activities such as balloon animals, glitter tattoos and hula hooping also will happen at the same time.
The lineup for this Friday:
— Walnut and Chester: 6 p.m., Bruce "Bruiser" Rummenie and Dawna Nelson, Americana music; and 7 p.m., Joe Asselin, blues guitar.
— Neil and Park: 6 p.m., Matter of Days, rock/pop/alternative music; and 7 p.m., the Hathaways and Tom Turino, music from the Andes.
— Neil and Church (One Main Plaza): 6 p.m., Big Creek Guitar Band, classic rock and blues; and 7 p.m.: Gloria Roubal & Paul Sabuco, acoustic pop-rock.
Also this Friday for the kids: balloon animals, a pop-up "rock star" photo booth and soda samples from the Homer Soda Company.
Friday Night Live is presented by 40 North 88 West, the Champaign County Arts Council, with support from Midland States Bank, Champaign Center Partnership, Illini Radio Group and the city of Champaign, plus other sponsors.
