Feeling shamrocky? Allerton Park & Retreat Center will host the Allerton Irish Fest from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday on the Gate House Lawn at Allerton Park.

The evening will feature two separate Irish music performances — The Spud Hunters from 6 to 7:30 p.m. followed by The Shanties from 7:30 to 9:30.

The Allerton facility is at 515 Old Timber Road, Monticello.

The Spud Hunters are a Champaign-Urbana Irish traditional band.

The Shanties are from Bloomington and are working on a new CD. The focus is on up-tempo, rowdier melodies with pop Irish influence from Solas, Gaelic Storm, Great Big Sea and Flogging Molly.

"The blended singing and instrument sounds of fiddle, mandolin, whistle, guitar, and the Irish (drum) bodhran create the unique sound of The Shanties," a press release notes.

Food and drink will be available for purchase from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

There is a suggested entry donation of $5 per person or $10 per family.
