Outdoor concert

The highlight of this week will be the Outside at Research Park concert at the UI Research Park. This is a beautiful spot for outdoor concerts, and it tends to draw large groups of people of all ages. I've heard great things about the opening act, Upshot, fronted by Sara Hall, and I've heard the headliner Davina and The Vagabonds twice before. Music lovers: you are in for a real treat!

'The Candidate'

It's fun to watch movies with other people. The Institute for Creativity will show at 7 p.m. Wednesday "The Candidate" (1972), starring Robert Redford. Wendy Edwards will host; admission is $3. Refreshments will be available for donations. I4C, on the second floor at 111 S. Walnut St., C, will show a feature-length movie the second Wednesday of each month, hosted by a I4C staff or friends.

If you want to perform, you have your chance Monday through Thursday at Figure One, 116 N. Walnut St., C. There theater expert Latrelle Bright will lead workshops exploring earth, water, air and fire, via storytelling, music, movement and writing. Each session from 5 to 7 p.m. will end with a short performance based on the material Bright and the workshop participants come up with. Call 333-0786.
