Notes-Worthy: Susan Williams, Part II

Notes-Worthy: Susan Williams, Part II

C.U. Bands and Fans' Terry Brown chats with singer/bassist/songwriter SUSAN WILLIAMS, a talented blues artist:

Where did your passion for blues come from and when did you decide blues was what you wanted to play?

I have always had a passion for many genres of music, but when I first moved to Chicago in the early 2000s, I was surrounded by blues, so I immersed myself in it. I found that the music really spoke to my soul and that when I sang it, it came from my soul, so I knew this was what I needed to keep doing.

What has been your most special moment in performing live music and why?

Anytime someone comes up to me and tells me that my singing moved them to tears or spoke to their heart, it overwhelms me with gratitude that I get to do this. I've been writing songs for people's weddings, using specific information from their lives and their relationship. Seeing their faces when I sing it at their wedding is really incredible!

You have a CD coming out in December. Tell us about it. Where we will be able to buy it?

I'm really excited about it, as it is literally a dream come true for me! I wrote nine of the songs, and my guitar player, Mike Gallemore, wrote two of them. I'm really proud of how they turned out. I hope everyone enjoys listening to them as much as I did creating them!

When it's released, I will have them available at my shows, as well as through our Facebook page and our band website.

I also plan to put it on Spotify, CD Baby, etc. I hope to have some CD-release shows after Christmas and do a CD-release tour in February. I've also been talking to a promoter in Europe who's going to help me get it on the radio over there!

Anyone who has any questions about how to get it can contact me on my Facebook band page, Susan Williams Band.
