At 2 p.m. today at the main library, Kittens Incorporated will share its "breezy pop," summery sounds as part of the library's all-ages In Concert at CPL series.

At 10 a.m. Tuesday at the main library, Master Gardener Janet Townsend will share tips on growing plants in containers as part of this month's Tuesdays at Ten: Out in the Garden series.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday at the main library, New York Times bestselling author Paula McLain will speak about writing, life and her latest book, "Love and Ruin." Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and book sales. Her visit is part of the Great Authors at the Library series.

Urbana Free Library

At 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lewis Auditorium, attend Babies' Lap Time. In this program for our youngest library fans, 2 and under, you'll find that it's never too early to learn to love songs, books and rhymes.

From 3:30 to 5 p.m. every Saturday, youths 5 and up can attend Chess + for Kids, where they can play chess, Monopoly and other games. Registration is not required.

Danville Public Library

From 9:30 to 11 a.m. and from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Danville residents can get a free lighted magnifier and evaluation from Chittick Family Eye Care. For more information, call the outreach department at 217-477-5227.

At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, children of all ages can attend a summer reading kickoff party in the first-floor meeting room. Enjoy ice cream and toppings sponsored and served by Landmark Credit Union. Participate in karaoke and win door prizes. Sign up for a summer reading adventure. Youths 12 to 18 will have a separate summer reading kickoff party from 3 to 4 p.m.
