Memory Lane: Welcome home, 2004-05 Illini

CHAMPAIGN – Bruce Weber introduced Jack Ingram as the Illinois basketball team's "quiet" leader during Tuesday evening's celebration at Memorial Stadium. But Ingram made plenty of noise, leading the estimated 20,000 fans in the "I-L-L, I-N-I" chant.

"All these fans are great," Ingram said. "It's unbelievable. Our fans have been great all year, and they wanted to cap it off with coming out here today."

Memory Lane: Eric Gordon commits to Illinois

INDIANAPOLIS - In the few days since the news broke that Eric 'E.J.' Gordon had committed to the Illinois basketball program, the Indianapolis prep star and his father, Eric Sr., started scanning the Illini Internet message boards.

The younger Gordon, a highly ranked junior at Indianapolis North Central, already was comfortable with his decision, which he made during the weekend. But a little love from the fans didn't hurt.

At noon, Dan Hartleb's Illinois baseball team takes on Purdue in a game that has Big Ten tournament and NCAA tournament ramifications. At 5 p.m., Terri Sullivan's Illini softball team takes on Missouri in an NCAA tournament opener.
