Like every other Junior Reporter we've sent to Memorial Stadium to cover Illinois football, AUSTIN BROWN's name was randomly selected.

What's different is no one knows who put his name in the hopper in the first place.

The fifth-grader from Danville was anonymously nominated — for us, that's a first — and to this day, he doesn't have a clue who did it.

The kids at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School would like nothing better than to spend part of Thanksgiving break at Memorial Stadium.

"The school is very excited for our football team," senior GABBY DAMMKOEHLER said. "The team went to state last year, and we hope they make it again this year. Everyone's very supportive and proud."

By rule, Fisher's Daniel Dabney can't tell us how he fared at last week's taping of "America's Funniest Home Videos."

Audience members were to decide which of the three finalists would cash in.

"We feel like we've already won," he said before leaving with his wife and four young children, "because we're getting a (free) trip to Los Angeles with the family. That's exciting."

The kids at St. Thomas More were told Monday that there would be no school Friday because of the volleyball team's trip to state.

"There was a collective cheer when we found out," senior LIA ZNANIECKI said. "If you would have passed our school when they made the announcement, you probably would have heard us."
