Myers accepts new challenge

SULLIVAN — Jeff Myers waited on a phone call.

It finally arrived.

Hours after his eldest son, Colton, walked across the stage during a graduation ceremony at the University of Florida last May, Myers was in the midst of a four-hour drive between Gainesville, Fla., and Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., when he received the good news.

Senior Lee leads larger, more committed Sabers

At Monticello. Mahomet-Seymour edged second-place Monticello by seven strokes at a four-team tournament in Monticello. Alex Strube collected individual medalist honors with a nine-hole score of 38 to pace the Bulldogs to a victory. M-S produced a team score of 178, compared to 185 from the Sages, who were led by Garrett O'Brien's 42.

GILMAN — The garage at Cam Stone's house in Gilman turned into a popular gathering place this offseason thanks to a projector screen and hours of game film to dissect from last season's Iroquois West football team.

Playoffs remain on Hawks' minds for 2018

FAIRBURY — Ten months ago, the talk around Prairie Central centered on playoff football.

The Hawks, after all, snapped a five-year absence from the postseason — a welcomed sight for a town and school that had enjoyed deep playoff runs in the past, including a 2003 run to the Class 4A state championship game.
