Crime Stoppers | Police seek shooter in Oct. 14 death

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign County Crime Stoppers needs help finding the person or persons who killed a Champaign man in his home last month.

At about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, Champaign police were sent to the 2600 block of Lawndale Drive, where gunshots had been heard.

Champaign man gets 3.5 years for injuring mother of his child

URBANA — A Champaign man who admitted harming the mother of his child in an apparent misguided attempt to get his son has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison.

Judge Tom Difanis sentenced Shermarke Pettigrew-Sherrell, 23, whose last known address was in the 1200 block of Carver Drive, on Friday, declaring: "This isn't the way one deals with family issues."

Champaign man gets 10 years for raping former roommate

URBANA — A Champaign man who forcibly had sex with a woman with whom he roomed at one time has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Judge Tom Difanis called the circumstances of Scott Foss’ crime “somewhat outrageous” as he imposed a nine-year prison term on him for criminal sexual assault and one year in prison to follow that for criminal sexual abuse.

Man sought in north Champaign shooting in custody

CHAMPAIGN — A tip to Crime Stoppers led to the arrest Thursday of a Champaign man wanted in connection with a shooting earlier this week.

Champaign police Sgt. Dave Griffet said officers found Jaliqwon Robertson, 20, of the 500 block of East Eureka Street in a home in the 1000 block of West Maple Street.

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign County Crime Stoppers needs help finding the people who fired shots near a west Champaign apartment complex.

At 11:52 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, Champaign police were called to the 300 block of Kenwood Road after multiple reports of shots being fired in that area.

Police: Man fatally shot is Danville's 11th homicide of 2018

DANVILLE — Danville police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Danville man Friday night as a homicide.

A release from Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said the shooting took place in the 100 block of North State Street about 9 p.m. Residents in that area reported hearing gunshots.

Probation for having gun on train

URBANA — A Mattoon man who admitted he brought a loaded gun on a train earlier this year has been sentenced to 30 months of probation.

Isiah Easter, 20, pleaded guilty Friday before Judge Tom Difanis to aggravated unlawful use of weapons.
