Police investigate shooting that hospitalized a 23-year-old

URBANA — Police are investigating a shooting this week that sent an Urbana man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to an Urbana police report, officers were called to Prairie Green Apartments in the 2500 block of Prairie Green Drive about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said multiple shots were fired in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Area lawmakers optimistic on state budget

Two area lawmakers say they are somewhat optimistic in the chances that there will be a state budget in place by the end of this month.

The General Assembly has until May 31st to pass a budget with a simple majority or the legislature will have to have a super majority to pass one after that date.

Danville man arrested in shooting held on unrelated charges

DANVILLE — Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said a man arrested after a shooting late last week has not been charged in that incident, though he remains in custody on unrelated charges.

Thomason said Arthur Cunningham, 21, of Danville was taken into custody after he was found in possession of a gun. He said Cunningham was charged with unlawful use of weapon by a felon.

UPDATE: 2 hospitalized after multiple-vehicle crash on I-74 west of Ogden

UPDATE, 1:52 p.m.:

OGDEN — An Illinois man driving too fast near a construction zone Friday morning on Interstate 74 caused a multiple-vehicle collision that sent two people to the hospital.

Illinois State Police at Pesotum said the accident happened at 7:32 a.m. on the westbound side of the interstate at mile marker 196, about a mile west of Ogden.

Crews removing semi from I-57

Crews are removing a semi-truck from Interstate 57 following an accident near Rantoul early Thursday morning.

State police say tow trucks will occasionally be occupying the right late of I-57 southbound, about three miles south of Rantoul.

Authorities urge caution and ask motorists to move to the left lane.

Flash flood watch

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday for Ford and Iroquois counties.

Multiple rounds of thunderstorms have produced heavy rainfall over much of the warned area since yesterday afternoon.

Rainfall is expected to taper off this morning.

Dangerous fire conditions today

The National Weather Service says part of East Central Illinois will be under dangerous fire conditions from noon Tuesday until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The red flag warning includes Champaign, Ford, Iroquois, and Vermilion counties.
