Insurer Nationwide cutting 1,100 jobs

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Nationwide intends to eliminate the jobs of about 1,100 employees across the country — around 3.6 percent of its workforce.

Parkland volleyball's Hastings receives Hall of Fame nod

CHAMPAIGN — Parkland volleyball has experienced tremendous success under coach Cliff Hastings.

Now, Hastings will be recognized for his work on the court. The veteran Parkland coach will be inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame today, the league's governing body announced on Tuesday.

Tolono man who got 45 years on federal sex charges gets 5 more in state case

URBANA — A Tolono man sentenced last week to 45 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting three girls has pleaded guilty to molesting a fourth girl in a state case.

Joshua E. Lange, 40, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday before Champaign County Judge Heidi Ladd to a single count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
