Deontae L. Franklin was convicted of one count of aggravated battery with firearm June 15 at the conclusion of a two-day jury trial.

Danville kitchen fire under investigation

DANVILLE — A Danville family is cleaning up following a fire that damaged their home Wednesday night.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at 117 S. Griffin St., at 8:07 p.m. When they arrived, heavy smoke and flames were showing from the rear of the 1 1 / 2-story, wood-frame house, according to Capt. Jerry Sparks.
