Champaign couple among those helped by Frerichs' 'lost money' program

CHAMPAIGN — After Carl Hill saw a News-Gazette article about unclaimed cash in state government coffers, he decided to check to see if he was among those owed some of this "lost money."

"I got online and looked it up," said Hill, of Champaign, owner of Hillshire Realty for the last 42 years. "I found my name and learned there was a $50 rebate that was owed to me."

CHAMPAIGN — Restaurant row at south Champaign's Carriage Center has lost another tenant.

Sunday was the last day of operations for Wendy's at 2035 S. Neil St., General Manager Gean Hardwell confirmed.

Rep. Davis challenger Londrigan to host town hall Thursday on UI campus

URBANA — Democratic candidate for Congress Betsy Dirksen Londrigan announced on Sunday she will hold a town hall event this week on the University of Illinois campus.

The 14-county series began in July and has included Macoupin, Greene, DeWitt, Christian, Macon, Calhoun, Piatt, Jersey and Montgomery counties so far.

Solar-farm company owner pledges power discounts for St. Joe residents

URBANA — The owner of a company that wants to build a solar farm just north of the St. Joseph Sportsman Club said his firm would love to sell the power produced by the farm to local residents at a discount from what they are currently paying traditional electricity providers.
