UI women vs. Texas Tech: notebook

CHICAGO — There's no rest for the road-weary.

LIVE! UI women vs. Texas Tech

Final: Texas Tech 70, Illinois 64

Illinois couldn't quite make Texas Tech sweat.

The Illini stayed within striking range but never got close enough to get the Red Raiders worried Saturday, falling to No. 15 Tech in the first half of the United Center doubleheader.

Swimmer of the Year: Audrey Rodawig

CHAMPAIGN — She's something of a competition junkie, but that's not always a good thing for Centennial junior Audrey Rodawig.

To hear her coach, Janell Shine, describe her, Rodawig would "rip out her left arm" if it would help her go faster and beat the person next to her.

That's the good part of being someone who thrives on the adrenaline of competition.

GodBold turns frown upside down

NORMAL — Adrienne GodBold's history with Redbird Arena can put a smile on her face at any time of the day.

So when the junior walked into Redbird for Wednesday's game against rival Illinois State, GodBold was intent on making the memories better.

LIVE! UI women at ISU

Final: Illinois 66, Illinois State 56

One game after backup Alexis Burke carried Illinois to a win against Clemson, the Illini provided further proof that they're more than just one All-Big Ten player and a bunch of others.

Carter, Chargers put on happy face

CHAMPAIGN — Regardless of what's happening — good, bad or ugly — the expressions on Devin Carter's face often tell the story.

The Centennial senior smiled a lot Friday, so you can make an educated guess based on that knowledge about how the Chargers fared against Decatur Eisenhower.

Centennial 56, Eisenhower 32. Carter grins: countless.
