Five area swimmers had successful ends to their seasons. Sophomore Payton Woods, from Champaign Central, had a record-setting meet for Michigan State at the Big Ten Men's Swimming & Diving Championships.

On campus: Feb. 10

Senior Ross Learnard, from Salt Fork, has been garnering preseason honors. The Purdue left-handed reliever was named as the sole reliever on Perfect Game's preseason All-Big Ten team as well as earning preseason All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball.

On campus: Feb. 3

— Senior Devin Curry, from Watseka, has started 19 games for Millikin. She currently leads the Big Blue in scoring with 16.3 points per game, 50 three-pointers, 60 assists and a .899 free throw percentage, which is the seventh-best mark in NCAA Division III as well as leading the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Millikin travels to Kensoha, Wis., to face Carthage 5 p.m.

On campus: Jan. 27

Sophomore Jenny Kimbro, from Salt Fork, is now second on the Iowa all-time performance list in the Pentathlon with a win at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational. Kimbro set personal bests in the 60 hurdles (8.42 seconds), high jump (five feet, five and one-quarter inches), and 800 meters (two minutes, 24.03 seconds).

Three area freshman have earned spots on the Millikin indoor track and field all-time performance lists in their first collegiate meet.

On campus: Catching up with former area stars

Senior Randa Harshbarger, from St. Thomas More, has started all 12 games for Southern Indiana. She is second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference at 3.3 steals per game, sixth with 3.3 assists, and seventh with a 1.1 assist/turnover ratio.

Three area athletes were recently honored by the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in their respective sports.

On Campus

Eureka College has rebounded from an 0-2 start to win three straight due in part to the contributions of several area players. On defense junior safety Colton Fauver, from Salt Fork, has 13 tackles, an interception and fumble recovery in five starts while senior safety Ross Royal, from GCMS, has 14 tackles and two pass breakups in his five starts.

On Campus

Carthage College is off to a 3-1 start thanks to the efforts of three ex-Urbana Tigers. Senior receiver James Cobb III leads the team with 14 receptions for 238 yards in four starts. His three touchdown receptions ties him for second in the CCIW.
