Senior Karly Goodman, from Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships held in LaCrosse, Wis. Goodman set Illinois Wesleyan program records with a second-place finish in the javelin at 144 feet, 1 / 2 inch and an eighth-place finish in the shot put at 45-1.

On campus, May 8, 2018

— Sophomore Tanner Gordon, from Champaign Central, was named the NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 16-22. Pitching for John A. Logan College, Gordon set a program record when he struck out 19 batters in a complete game shutout of Olney Community College.

Senior Luke Vaughn, from Centennial, set the Memphis men's track & field program record in the discus at the Crimson Tide Invitational last week. On his third attempt, Vaughn broke the 15-year-old school record with a throw of 200 feet, 2 inches.

Redshirt junior Johnny Leverenz, from Danville, was named the Big East's men's track athlete of the week after his performance at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational. The Butler middle distance runner posted wins in both the 800 and 1,500 meters, setting personal bests in the process.

The Danville Area Community College spring sports programs both feature several athletes that are off to good starts to their seasons.

On campus, March 17, 2018

— Redshirt senior Darren Wynn, from Centennial, fell just short of his second national title at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships last week. The McKendree grappler came into the championships as the top seed at 141 pounds after going undefeated during the regular season. Wynn won two decisions and scored a pinfall on his way to the finals where he fell 4-2.

On campus, March 10, 2018

Sophomore Vincent Gordon, from Centennial, earned U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association All-America honors with his performance at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Iowa Western sprinter finished sixth in both the 60 and 200 meters and was a member of the fifth-place 1,600 relay that broke the school record.

Five area swimmers had successful ends to their seasons. Sophomore Payton Woods, from Champaign Central, had a record-setting meet for Michigan State at the Big Ten Men's Swimming & Diving Championships.

On campus: Feb. 10

Senior Ross Learnard, from Salt Fork, has been garnering preseason honors. The Purdue left-handed reliever was named as the sole reliever on Perfect Game's preseason All-Big Ten team as well as earning preseason All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball.
