It sounded like a good idea at the time.
When my son turned 7, we decided to have a big-time birthday party at our house. We’d done it before, mostly small gatherings with just a few friends. But this was going to be the big bash.
So we invited 20 — yes, 20 — first-grade boys to our house.

- Sunshine, seasonal warmth on the increase...

Much of the country will experience a relatively quiet week of weather. During the early- to mid-week period, showers will gradually shift from southern portions of the Rockies and Plains into Florida. Elsewhere, precipitation will be mostly confined to the Pacific Northwest.
Late in the week, however, a new storm system will produce rain and snow across parts of the Rockies, Plains, and the upper Midwest. Until that storm develops, cooler-than-normal conditions will be mostly confined to the South.

Isn’t it cool that Grandma is still driving at her age? Maybe not, according to the American Medical Association.
Having a driver’s license typically means independence to the elderly, but older drivers are involved in more vehicle crashes, and are more likely to die from accident-related injuries than their younger counterparts, according to the AMA.

If you really want to get to know someone, run 20 miles with her.
There’s a lot of time for talking.
Far from being lonely or solitary, running for me is extremely social and a way to stay connected with friends.
My longtime running buddies have a regular Sunday morning run, known as “church.” This is when I can catch up on their lives and their families, and we can talk about whatever is on our minds.
