Going "UP" Movie Review

The story line is excellent. It is moving and entertaining for young and old alike. You do have a choice as to whether or not you want to see the film in 3D or regular. I’m not a real big fan of  3D, but I enjoyed it because of the high quality of Pixar animation.

I loved the animation in Monster’s Inc. and in Wall-E (they made a cockroach cute for crying out loud). As I said, the animation is standard high quality Pixar, but it is the development of characters that makes this film a runaway hit and a collectors favorite.

We begin with the old man as a round little boy, who loves adventure and meets a jabber mouthed toothless girl that lets him into her adventurer’s club. A melody of their life together as best friends, husband and wife, and best friends brings you to today. Understanding a lonely old man, who regrets he never took his best friend on the adventure he promised her, the one she dreamed of all her life.

Russell, the little boy who becomes the old man’s side kick, and Doug the dog that adopts them both are wonderful characters because they are believable. If you have ever known an 8 year old boy, or lived with a loyal dog, you will recognize them in these characters.

Warning: “Up” may have you crying over a cartoon. But don’t worry, its far from sad. Up is definitely uplifting.
