Wedding photographer comes up with another use for newspapers
I've written before about creative ways to reuse newspapers (and newspaper bags, but that's not pertinent here).
I also handle engagement and wedding announcements for The News-Gazette.
These two worlds converged, though, when I recently saw a photo from a wedding taken by Holly Birch Smith of Holly Birch Photography. (I met her through Twitter, when she attended a News-Gazette tweetup, and click through to her blog when she posts updates on Facebook.)
She used the wedding day's News-Gazette as a backdrop for a photo of wedding rings. She gave me permission to post it below.
“I've done a similar shot once before, last August,” Smith told me. “I first thought of it because I had seen photographers doing more ring shots with print items, and I was tired of the same old rings-with-the-flowers shots. Plus using the date on the newspaper gives it a unique, timeless feel.”
It also serves another purpose, too, she said.
“I could actually use this shot in their wedding album now and not have to insert the text with their wedding date,” Smith said.
I'd never thought about combining newspapers and weddings, but this one shows it can be done.
