Kitchen organization: Using an old dish rack to keep lids tidy

Champaign resident Della Perrone sent me this genius way she used an old dish rack to organize lids in her kitchen.

Blog Photo"I had been using old dish racks in the garden shed to store flower pot trays," she wrote. "One day, while struggling with those stupid plastic lids, it occurred to me that I could be using the old racks for the lids if we trimmed off the perimeter of the rack so we just had the bottom of it.

"I originally thought we would leave more length to the horizontal elements, drill small holes in the inside of the drawer, then pop the ends of the wire into the holes to stabilize the rack.

"My husband, Craig (who can do anything) actually skipped the extended wire theory and it was fine with the plastic lids. If we were going to use the rack for heavy pot lids, I think anchoring it in the wall of the drawer would be wise."

Della reports that her lid rack is working well. I think this is such a smart idea for kitchen organization.
