In today's N-G you can read Bruce Weber's response to non-friend Kelvin Sampson's mess at Indiana. We asked Weber for his reaction to the Indiana situation yesterday.

-Weber also addressed Demetri McCamey's involvement in the NCAA investigation at IU. McCamey's name is cited three times in the NCAA report delivered to Indiana a week ago.

-In Saturday's N-G you can read how a gift from Dee Brown motivated McCamey during the freshman's brilliant run over the past three games.

-If you would have seen McCamey in practice yesterday, you would understand why the Illinois coaches limited playing time earlier this season. Sometimes I swear he's a bipolar player; dominant at times in games, egregiously bad at times in practice. Fortunately for Illinois, the point guard is a gamer and, um, not a practicer.

The part I like is that McCamey will say as much. He recognizes his practice habits are lacking.

-Coaches are keeping tabs on their committed prospects. Weber attended one of Tyler Griffey's games earlier this week; Wayne McClain watched Stan Simpson against Crane.

-Coming in Sunday's N-G is a close-up profile of Illinois commitment Crandall Head. We spent an afternoon with Crandall and his family at their home near Chicago. Topics include his high school plans, how the family plans on dealing with recruiting overtures from other schools (you may be surprised), and how Luther has been, in Crandall's words, a lifelong role model for the 16-year-old.
Interesting stuff. Now I need to write it.

-Please pray for those affected by the tragedy at NIU. Columbine devastated my hometown eight years ago. People and prayer lifted it back up.
