Shaun Pruitt excelled in his final game at the Portsmouth Invitational. The former Illini center had 18 points and 12 rebounds as his team won its third game for the championship. He scored 34 points (14-for-27) to go with 27 rebounds during the course of the predraft showcase. Surprise, surprise, he also made 6 of 7 free throws.

Illinois assistant Wayne McClain traveled to Virginia to support Pruitt, who sustained a minor ankle injury in the second game. Steve Pruitt, Shaun's father, said Shaun has hired Mike Naiditch of Naiditch EntertainmenT, a Chicago-based firm, as his agent. Naiditch also represents Jannero Pargo of the New Orleans Hornets. Once Pruitt returns from Portsmouth, he plans on continuing workouts with trainer Tim Grover in Chicago.
