The Illinois basketball roster will not include Rodney Alexander next season. The 6-foot-7 forward, who averaged 4.6 points and about three rebounds in 31 appearances in one season for the Illini, will not return for his senior campaign. After the season, Alexander had discussions with the coaching staff about his future, and he was uncertain whether he would stay at Illinois.

The UI likely will announce Alexander's exit later today, and we'll have more in Wednesday's News-Gazette.

Not sure what advantage can be gained for a player with one year left to leave the program. Is there an academic or personal problem?
