Off-season is over....Next Up: Football

It seems like just yesterday I was broadcasting baseball on the Big Ten Network.  Actually... it has been roughly 60 days since then... and for me... the summer has flown by quickly.

Always on my calendar at the end of the summer is the annual  Decatur Illini Club Corn Roast over at the Knights of Columbus Park.  I have helped MC the event for the last few years and always enjoy meeting all the loyal Illini fans we have over in Macon County.

Last night  Zach Becker and Justin Staples joined us and did a great job getting the fans ready for Illini football 2010.

Once that event is done...the calendar usually turns to August shortly thereafter...and that means Big Ten Media Day is just around the corner.

In fact.... Media Day starts at 10 am on Monday in Chicago.  Steve Kelly, Loren Tate, Bob Asmussen and others (including me) will be headed to the Windy City for the gathering of all 11 Big Ten head coaches with the media.  We are also scheduled to hear from Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delaney and I am sure the recent addition of Nebraska to the league will be discussed.  I have heard that Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne may be wandering around as well.

Steve Kelly and his Sportstalk show will air live from the event starting at 5 pm Monday afternoon.  The show will air from 5-6:30pm and Illini players and Coach Ron Zook have been invited to come on the show and discuss the start of Camp Rantoul and the upcoming 2010 season.  I am looking forward to it.

I will also be starting up with the live "Behind the Mic" chats again as we get closer to the date with Missouri in early September.

Talk to you soon!
