This http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/16/national/16children.html?pagewanted=1 is just what Gov. Rod Blagojevich wanted from his All Kids bill-signing ceremony Tuesday.
You'll note, for example, that the bill was signed in Chicago -- where access to the news media is greater -- than in Springfield, where the bill was actually approved and where the state government is actually located. Signing the bill in relatively remote Springfield probably wouldn't have yielded him TV coverage in Chicago, nor a New York Times story.
And while this guy really has no idea how the state is going to pay for All Kids (no one does because no one knows how much this is going to cost), you've got to admit he has great style, signing the bill surrounded by cheery-looking children and his good pal (for yesterday at least), Senate President Emil Jones.
The best part of the NYT story was Sen. Peter Roskam's observation about the length of the press release.
