Right in-between the bad weather; snow to the north and freezing rain and sleet to the southeast

A weak upper-level disturbance approaching from the Plains will bring a period of light freezing rain and sleet to portions of east-central and southeast Illinois this evening. Ice accumulations will generally be one tenth of an inch or less...however this will be enough to create slick spots on many area roadways. Further north...light snow will fall across north-central Illinois...with 1 to 2 inches of snow expected along and north of the I-74 corridor.  IN CHICAGO ...Late Afternoon: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 23. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Tonight: Snow, mainly before midnight. Low around 18. East northeast wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
