Daily dose: Local history and Cubs trivia for Danville Dans' tickets, Part 3

Local history

In 1912, local authorities are investigating whether they will have to buy a new septic tank for the Champaign sewer system. The old septic tank, about a half-mile northeast of Urbana on 15 acres of ground belonging to the city, is in deplorable condition. Either radical improvements will have to be made or an entirely new tank will have to be built.

In 1962, State’s Attorney Robert Waaler has announced the appointment of James W. Evans, 25, as an investigator for the office. His appointment follows the resignation last week of former assistant Robert Trimpe, who has joined the law firm of Hirschfeld and Hirschfeld. Evans is a 1962 graduate of the University of Illinois College of law.
