Looking like a non-white Christmas

The long-range forecasts suggest virtually no chance of a white Christmas in Champaign-Urbana this year.

The Weather Channel's 10-day forecast shows high temperatures in the 30s and 40s and only a couple possibilities of rain. Christmas Day is forecast to be partly cloudy with a high of 35.

Among the first great lies: Rod Blagojevich's inauguration address

This is always worth rereading, and musing about how too many politicians can talk a good line but act entirely different.

Daily dose: Local history, business tax-break bill, county administrator pay, Frerichs/Pliura fundraising, Active Seniors

Local history

In 1911, the Illinois Theatre Company of Urbana today filed suit for $10,000 damages against George Chatterton, Margaret Chatterton and the Sam Shubert booking agency for the back payment of rent. It is understood that the defendants have been delinquent for a long period of time and that demands upon them for payment have been met with refusals.
