Johnson praises bin Laden assault effort

U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson, R-Urbana, has issued a brief statement in response to the U.S. effort to capture Osama bin Laden, which ended in bin Laden's death Sunday in Pakistan:


Health Alliance hearing in Springfield today

This afternoon's scheduled hearing on the state's tentative decision to switch state employees' and retirees' health insurance from Urbana-based Health Alliance has been moved from the Stratton Building in Springfield to a larger hearing room in the Capitol.

In 1911, with the dedication Sunday of the Church of Christ, University Place, the community’s largest place of worship was opened for services. The entire structure is not new, but an addition has almost doubled the capacity of the church.

In 1911, Illinois will double the general appropriation for the maintenance of public schools in the state, and make it $2 million annually. This was agreed to by the House appropriations committee.
