In 1911, with the dedication Sunday of the Church of Christ, University Place, the community’s largest place of worship was opened for services. The entire structure is not new, but an addition has almost doubled the capacity of the church.

In 1911, Illinois will double the general appropriation for the maintenance of public schools in the state, and make it $2 million annually. This was agreed to by the House appropriations committee.

In 1911, Roy V. Williams and Charles E. Mueller have leased the plant of the People’s Ice Co., which has not been in use for several months, and have formed a partnership to engage in the manufacture of ice. They have begun to overhaul the plant and the production of ice will begin next Monday.
According to a report filed with the State Board of Elections yesterday, the money behind the group opposing today's Champaign County auditor referendum is the Illinois Association of County Auditors, based in Alton.

In 1911, tomorrow is the opening of the high school baseball season with a game at West End Park between the Champaign High School team and LeRoy High School. Champaign has been practicing daily and is determined to avenge the basketball defeat at the hands of LeRoy.
