CUBS on parade

It comes as no suprise to my frends that another event I am involved in is going to get rained upon. Whether it's a golf outing, an organized walk, a night at a Danville Dans game or, now, the annual July 4th parade appearance by the Champaign-Urbana Baseball Stalwarts (not Champaign-Urbana Baseball Stawart, as the official parade order lists says), it rains.
There's an 80 percent chance of rain around teh time the parade is to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday. Blame it on me.
We're marching anyway.
What's a little rain when we Cubs fans have endured players like Alfonso Soriano, Todd Hundley, Milton Bradley, Mel Rojas, Corey Patterson and Danny Jackson lo these many years?
We are assembling at 12:30 p.m. on Gregory Street, just east of the Krannert Center. We are No. 50 in the parade, just behind the Rantoul Township High School marching band and just ahead of the Equal Marriage is a Civil Right group.
Should be great. I am a big supporter of Rantoul, bands, marriage, civil rights, the Cubs and, of course, Independence Day and our nation's independence.
Cubs fans -- please join us. It's lots of fun.
Cardinals and White Sox fans -- please boo us. That's lots of fun too. We can take it. We have thicker skin that a rhino.
It's going to be a short parade this year. Only 93 entries.
