State Sen. Mike Frerichs, D-Champaign, on Lisa Madigan's announcement:

"Having never spoken with her I can't tell you what the reason is. But having an 8-month-old baby at home, and knowing how much time she requires and how much time I want to spend with her, I would think that any parent with young children would have to think very seriously, long and hard, before deciding to take on an undertaking like a run for governor of the state of Illinois."
Also said he's going to refrain, for the time being, from endorsing anyone for U.S. senator, governor or any other race.
"I'm focusing on my own reelection," he said.
