UPDATE: In Springfield this morning, Dennis Malak of Tuscola filed to run for the Democratic nomination for the Illinois House in the 110th District. He likely will oppose state Rep. Chapin Rose, R-Mahomet, in the general election in November 2010.
Also today state Sen. Dale Righter, R-Charleston, filed for another term in the 55th Senate District. So far there are no candidates from either party to oppose him.
From Thursday: It's still slow going on the candidate filing front, but two more challengers jumped in today.
David Gill, an emergency room physician from Bloomington, filed his papers in Springfield to run for a third time against U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson, R-Urbana. Gill, a Democrat, ran against Johnson in the 15th Congressional District in 2006 and 2004.
Andrew R. Timms, a Champaign businessman, filed his papers to run as a Republican in Champaign County Board District 6. District 6 is solidly Democratic and is now represented by Democrats Giraldo Rosales, Michael Richards and Matthew Gladney.
Gladney said last week he will not for a second term. Pattsi Petrie said she intended to run as a Democrat, but has not yet filed petitions of candidacy.
