Canaan Baptist's "Messiah" rehearsals begin next week

Rehearsals for the 2010 performance of excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah” begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 in the sanctuary of The Canaan Baptist Church, 402 W. Main St., U.
The rehearsals will be conducted by W. T. Summerville, director of the Victory Chorale and Campus and Community Affairs specialist in the Department of African American Studies at the University of Illinois.
Interested singers are asked to bring the music scores from the G. Schirmer edition of “The Messiah.” If singers do not own this edition, music will be provided during each rehearsal. The main performance will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Canaan Academy, 207 N. Central Ave., U. Singers will be accompanied
by a string orchestra.
Several area soloists will be featured in this annual event.
