Coming in Sunday's News-Gazette

Here's a look at some of the stories we have coming in Sunday's paper: Green roofs, Champaign police history, a facelift for Danville High School and much more.

Environmentally friendly "green roofs" are becoming more common on the University of Illinois campus. Julie Wurth reports on the latest one at the I Hotel in Champaign, where operator Fox Development covered about 3,000 square feet of the flat black roof over the adjacent University of Illinois Conference Center with a colorful mixture of hardy sedum plants that will help reduce energy consumption and improve guests' views.

Mary Schenk writes about the efforts by several members of the Champaign Police Department to record and display artifacts from the department's rich history at police headquarters.

In Danville, Noelle McGee looks at plans for the first phase of a project that will give the campus of Danville High School a significant face lift to green spaces, parking and drainage.

In her Art Beat column in Entertainment, Melissa Merli writes about an Urbana artist who has created a software extension that aims to change the Facebook experience for users from quantity to quality by eliminating the numbers from Facebook feeds.
