Backlog in letters

If you've written a letter to the editor in the last six weeks or so, it's probably taken it a while to appear in the newspaper. We've been as much as a month behind in getting letters into print, but we're working hard to catch up.
The backlog is at least partially the result of the large number of letters we received in the weeks leading up to the April 7 election. We try to run letters roughly in the order they come in unless they address a timely issue, which was the case with letters about election issues or endorsements. Election letters ran in the paper while letters dealing with other topics waited.
We've continued to receive a large number of letters, adding to the backlog. But have patience, we will catch up. And keep writing. We know the letters are well-read, and we're happy to give you a forum to share your opinions with other readers.

Glad to hear that people are still so inclined. I've sent a few "letters to the editor" in my time, but ever since THIS form of instant communication, my pencil, paper, envelope and stamp days have been virtually non-existent.
Now, though, if an interesting 50+ yr old girl wanted to see my poor penmanship, why I’d probably dust off the old writing tablet….Er,,,maybe not. Stamps are getting very expensive! Regards,
