See you at the tweetup

There will be a gathering Wednesday evening of people who sure know a lot about gadgets. And how to have fun.

The event is the C-U Tweetup. It’s from 6 to 9 p.m. June 2. We hold them at different places. This one is at Crane Alley, 115 W. Main St., in downtown Urbana.

We hold these once every season with folks we follow, and folks who follow us, on Twitter. Whether you’re new to Twitter or an old hand, I feel confident in saying you will meet interesting people and have a good time.

A tweetup is just a time and place to meet, in person, folks with whom your conversation usually happens on Twitter. Meg Thilmony wrote about the February event here. It's a good explanation.

I have two goals in mind: learn more about what cell phones people like (because I’m due for an upgrade), and shoot a game of pool or two. Any APA members out there in Twitterland?

Oh, and one of the more creative and clever local Twitter users, @trombonekenny, has come up with Tweetup Bingo.

But really, it’s just a time to have fun.

I have a box-o-swag to hand out at intervals, and the good folks at Crane Alley are contributing a few gifts as well.

Hope to see you there.
