First simulation is on the way...

Hello again everyone,

It's hard to believe we are almost into the month of August, but that's the case. We're only six weekends away from Illinois' opener against Missouri.

What I am going to try to do before then is get five season simulations in on NCAA Football 2011. I will also try to have them for you on every Monday in August, starting with August 2nd. Just some things to keep in mind before I start, that way people don't judge too much.

1) I'm only going to make a couple of depth chart changes. For some reason, Nathan Scheelhaase isn't in the game (Miles Osei is, but Scheelhaase isn't. Explain that to me?). Because of this, I'm going to put Chandler Whitmer into the game in his place. The designated backup QB in the game is Eddie McGee, but since it sounds like he will be spending a chunk of his time at wide receiver, I will be moving him there as a starter. He will remain as a backup QB to Whitmer. Jacob Charest, who is still on Illinois in this game, will become the third string QB and probably won't factor much in what Illinois does during the sim.

2) I will not touch the other rosters and depth charts from other teams in the Big Ten. This means there might be a player here or there who is making significant contributions to the team even though in real life they won't be. It makes it easier for me just to not worry about what happens with the other 10 teams roster wise and just simulate the way it is.

3) I plan on sharing stats as well. I will show the top 5 QB's, top 5 RB's, top 5 receivers, Top 5 defenders for sacks, tackles, and INT's, and the top 5 FG kickers. I will also have the standings, both overall and conference, plus who made bowl games and who won the national title. I think this stuff will be pretty neat to look at, and maybe it might give you a bit of an idea of how things might shape up this season.

I'm in the process of moving right now, but I should be able to have the first simulation done this weekend and ready to display on Monday. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Have a good day!!
