Illinois-Wisconsin Prediction

MY PREDICTION

#14 WISCONSIN 70         ILLINOIS 60

I just wanted to get this up to give you guys a chance to predict.  Winning at the Kohl Center is tough, and it will be even tougher when your team isn't really playing good basketball.  Looks like the Illini are going to finish the season with twice as many conference losses as wins.  Ouch.

What do you guys think?  It is an upset for the Illini, or will the Illini be upsetting?  Let me know with your thoughts and predictions below.  Prediction standings will be updated after this game.  Have a good one.

All right. Illinois is going to have to win at Wisconsin and at least 2 games in BTT to even remotely have a shot to get an at-large bid. The 2nd game of BTT will be against one of the top 4 teams in big ten, so there is still a  chance to get a quality win (2 more if we beat Wisconsin tomorrow.) But, we'll probably have to win 4 straight in BTT and grab the auto-birth to get in the tourny. That has only happened 1 time, i think. A BIG reason why i love tracy abrams. Even after the loss to Michigan, he says "people may think i'm crazy, but i still feel like we're getting in. I just have a feeling." Love that attitude from a player, especially a tough freshman.

I predict that ISU's (65-64) upset win over Wichita State in the MVC tourney will probably put a bit of a damper on some of the talk of Gregg Marshall replacing Bruce Weber.  Afterall, even this season's Illini team beat ISU on a neutral court in Cancun.

There's nothing quite like losing to the Redbirds with a nationally ranked team (15/14)...

Go Illini!

No way an Illini team featuring the whiny Sleepy Gazoo-hyped foul machine Leonard whips Wisconsin.

So, I can't believe I'm going to do this, because there is no logical sense to it at all, but I think Illinois will win this one.  Yes, Illinois is slumping while Wisconsin is improving.  Yes, Illinois' season is over.  Yes, Illinois has only 2 true road wins this season and one in B10 play.  Yes, Illinois wouldn't have beaten many if any B10 teams their past game out.  Yes, Illinois has absolutely nothing to play for in this game while Wisconsin is playing for a 1st round bye in the BTT.  Yes this is senior night in what will be a howling Kohl Center.  Yes, Bruce Weber is out the door.

Sooooo... Yep, all the makings of an Illinois win just to drive the fanbase insane one last time this season (I do think of all the teams in the B10 though, Wisconsin is one of the best matchups for Illinois)

Illinois: 51
Wisconsin: 50

Illinois will then go on to lose their 1st round BTT game and their 1st round NIT game for a fitting end to the season.

If we couldn't get up the last game at home, Kohl is not the place to think you can catch lighting.

Play the freshman, give the starters a rest.  They'll need it for a 4 game run in the tourney.

It's been a long, slow, agonizing, painful death to this season.  This should be another step toward that.

Did anyone see the article by Seth Davis on cnnsi.com?  It ripped Jordan Taylor and I assume he and the refs will have seen it.  Don't know if that helps or hurts, we will see....
